About: A classic blend of late season UK bittersweet apples featuring Yarlington Mill, Dabinett, Sheep's Nose, Michelin, and a host of small amounts of another 40 odd varietals from the Oliver's Estate Orchard. Keeved and bottled with some residual sweetness to condition in a beautifully full and lively way. Bottle conditioned Herefordshire cider as it was always meant to be. |
ABV: 5.7% |
Where: Herefordshire, England | Sweetness: Semi-Dry |
Flavor Notes: Cork emerges with a good pop and a golden amber colored cider with a foamy mousse in the glass. Ripe sweet apple with notes of spice reminiscent of apple butter. Slightly sweet at first but the tannins cut through that quickly, lingering notes of lemon zest, tart blackberry, apple skin, and tobacco. Finishes nice and dry. | Tannins: High |
Acid: Medium |
This cider is called Service In Recognition of the late Queen Elizabeth 2nd. It is also to recognise the incredibly tough times that the hospitality industry has been through and the contribution that all those involved make to the enjoyment of good food and drink.
Oliver's goal is to make a distinguished selection of fine Herefordshire and Three Counties ciders and perries and to relish doing it and do it profitably. The cider and perry is fermented by wild yeasts in small batches, using fresh pressed (mostly hand picked and unsprayed) fruit with minimal intervention. They strive to “take what the fruit gives”, respecting the great heritage and traditions of the past but with an eye to innovating for the future. Oliver’s aim to give a unique personal service, valuing the health, safety and well being of our customers, consumers, employees, the earth’s natural resources and the environment.
