Dragon's Head Cider (Vashon Island, Washington State)
Dragon's Head Cider is located on Vashon Island, just a quick 15 minute ferry ride from Seattle. Their orchard and cidery is one of our favorite places to visit, and they make some of the finest cider and perry products in the Northwest. Their focus is on traditional cider making practices, primarily using fruit grown on their orchard and foraged from around Vashon Island.
Dragon's Head's focus is on the apple varieties they use and the quality of the fruit. Many of the apples in their ciders come from their own orchard on Vashon Island. They grow mostly English and French traditional cider apple and perry pear varieties, including Kingston Black, Harry Masters Jersey, Dabinett, Medaille d’Or and Reine de Pomme. The rest of the heirloom apples and crabapples that they use in their ciders are purchased from other small orchards in Washington and Oregon.
