Kristof Farms - Pinot Noir Cider (750 mL)
Kristof Farms - Pinot Noir Cider (750 mL)
Kristof Farms Pinot Noir Cider is a cider & wine hybrid made by co-fermenting the juice from Golden Russet apples with the skins of the first press of Kristof's Pinot Noir grapes. The process creates a special blend of brilliant wine-infused crimson cider with an integrated texture and nice finishing flavor.
Tasting Notes: Noir Cider has a deep and brilliant crimson glow. On the nose is a bouquet of butterscotch, apple, fresh blackberry, cherry, and notes of grape. Hints of grass and fresh rain. Semi-Dry with great balancing tannins and acidity. The Golden Russet surfaces with notes of apple skin, and a fruity yet lighter overall drinkability to it. Earthy grape elements, notes of blackberry and cherry, balanced by a tart, tangy and dry cider/wine profile that makes for an excellent example of a cider & wine co-ferment, in which each fruit plays a starring roll in a well integrated cider.

About Kristof Farms Cider & Wine: The Kristof family grows the fruit in their ciders & wines on their Family's estate orchard in Yamhill, Oregon, in the Willamette Valley. The ciders are made in collaboration with Christine Walter of Bauman’s Cider; she is one of America’s greatest cider makers and the alchemist who produced this gold. The land the family's farm was originally established on was inhabited by Native Americans for over 8,000 years. Settlers homesteaded the property in the 1930s, planting a vast orchard of apples, walnuts, prunes, and pie cherries. The Kristof family acquired the land more than twenty years later, and with time converted much of the orchard on the farm to grow more grapes for wine and apples for cider. More than three generations of the Kristof family have poured their souls into this project, which is run today by Pulitzer Prize Winning Journalists (and husband and wife) Nicholas Kristoff and Sheryl WuDunn, and their children Caroline, Gregory, and Geoffrey.
