Snow Capped Cider - Yarlington Mill (750 mL)
Snow Capped Cider - Yarlington Mill (750 mL)
Snow Capped Cider's Yarlington Mill is a single-variety cider made 100% from estate grown Yarlington Mill apples. Yarlington Mill is traditional English bittersweet apple variety beloved by cider makers for it's high to medium tannin tendency and low acid. Yarlington’s flavor seems to follow what the years growing conditions yield. Often soft on the tree before it’s picked.
This cider drinks just off Dry. Hints of spiced apple sauce and leather with mild astringency reminiscent of a clean traditional English style cider.
We were lucky to get our hands on a couple cases of this gem, which is otherwise exclusively available to Snow Capped's cider club or when visiting their tasting room.
About Snow Capped Cider: Kari Williams' family has owned the orchards she now manages for more than 5 generations - though she's the first to use the apples for cider. Snow Capped Cider is crafted at an impressive elevation of 6,130 feet, making it one of the highest-elevation orchards and cideries in the world. Nestled at the base of the Grand Mesa - the largest flat-topped mountain in the world - on Colorado’s Western Slope. Their unique terroir benefits from high altitude, warm days, cool nights, and gravity-fed mountain water - which impacts the fruit in such a way that makes for excellent ciders. Their cider apples are grown exclusively in Colorado, adhering to traditional English and French orchard practices. Committed to sustainability, they craft high-quality ciders using sustainable farming practices, making Snow Capped Cider a zero-waste company.
Snow Capped has been on an impressive run the last few years at various Cider competitions, winning several awards for many of their recent releases.
