Antoine Marois - La Roche Cidre de Normandie (750 mL)
La Roche (The Rock) is a cider from Antoine Marois from the heart of the Pays d'Auge in Normandy, France. La Roche is a Brut Cidre de Normandie - a dry French cider made in the traditional methods common to the region. Made with a blend of traditional French cider apples from a south facing orchard on their estate. This cider is dry, rich, and with a pleasant body to support a tannic bitter quality. Tasting notes include rich apple and hints of spice and orchard floor.
About Antoine Marois: Nestled on top of a hill, the Domaine overlooks the village of Cambremer located in the heart of the Pays d'Auge, in Normandy. The Estate extends over 18 hectares (~45 acres) of natural meadows including 7.5 hectares of high-stem orchard. They grow many of the most beloved cider apple varieties form this region of France, including: Fréquin Rouge, Mettais, Saint Aubin, Binet Rouge, Domaine, Rambeau, and more. The orchards are managed organically. True to French tradition, the grass on the orchard is maintained by cows during the growing season before they are removed prior to harvest. All of the apples are hand harvested, and sorted before pressing. Their cider blends are based on specific plots within the orchard - so each cuvée represents a true expression of place & terroir. The work in the cellar is deliberately non-interventionist, but under constant attention. Fermentation via indigenous yeast, and then managed in the traditional French cidre style of keeving, involving multiple rackings during fermentation. Bottle conditioned naturally. Each vintage of these ciders will age exceptionally well and is crafted with intention of pairing well with a wide range of foods.
