Bereziartua - Sidra Natural Basque Cider (700 mL)
Bereziartua - Sidra Natural Basque Cider (700 mL)
Bereziartua's Sidra Natural is a traditional Spanish cider from the heart of the Basque Country in Northern Spain. Bereziartua has been produced consistently since 1870 by the Bereziartua family. Sidras Bereziartua Sagardoa is a family run ciderhouse located in Astigarraga, a town which has been famous for its cider production for centuries. Cider was taken so seriously here in the 14th century that anyone who broke a cider barrel was condemned to capital punishment.
Today, they just focus on making one of the most distinctive expressions of apple cider in the world. Made with a blend of wild apple varieties including Txalaka, Urtebia, Judeline, and Judor. Made in the traditional spanish cider method of natural (wild yeast) fermentation in large barrels, bottled still. It is intended to be lightly shaken before pouring (tip bottle over 2-3 times), or using the long pour method to pour a splash or two in your glass before gulping down with food.
We carry more ciders from Spain than anywhere else in the U.S. Shop our entire collection of Spanish Cider Brands, including several Sidras de Asturias and Sagardoas from Basque Country. Or grab one of these fun Variety Packs of Spanish Cider to get a mix of 6 or 12 bottles of cider from Spain.
Note: "Sidra" is spanish for cider and ciders from either Basque Country or Asturias in Spain are both often referred to as Sidra or Spanish Sidra. In Basque Country, they speak their own native language and "Sagardoa" means "apple wine" in Eurskara, the native language of Basque Country.
