Orcas Isle Cider - Apple Pear (750 mL)
Orcas Isle Cider's Apple Pear is the second of their planned annual, flagship releases. Apple Pear is a rich blend featuring fruit from Orcas Island's heritage apple and pear trees, including towering, 120-year-old wild and pioneer pear trees, blended together with other Island grown apples.
Wild fermented & barrel aged in whiskey barrels for approximately 4 months after fermentation and before bottling.
About Orcas Isle Cider: Located on beautiful Orcas Island in the heart of the Salish Sea, Orcas Isle Cider is one of the newest cideries in Washington State. They make small batch ciders - sourcing fruit from throughout Orcas Island and from other orchards and wild trees throughout the San Juan Islands. The San Juans have a rich apple history - as one of the first significant apple growing regions in America, when it was easier to transport apples by boat from these islands to larger port cities up and down the West Coast. Orcas Isle is developing their own farm based orchard - which you can't miss on the scenic drive from the ferry terminal at the Orcas Village into the town of Eastsound or Moran State Park. While that orchard matures, they're using fruit gleaned from orchards and feral trees growing throughout the island, and procuring some cider specific fruit from other parts of Washington State. Their focus is on wild, native yeast fermentation of high quality fruit with minimal intervention. You can visit their tasting room on Orcas Island, open seasonally during the summer months and early fall.
