Rootwood Cider - Spitzenberg (750 mL)
Rootwood Cider - Spitzenberg (750 mL)
Rootwood's Spitzenberg Cider is a single-varietal cider made from estate-grown Roxbury Russet apples. Rootwood Cider's estate orchard near Lake Chelan in Central Washington has been in Koenig the family for more than 100 years. They began making small batches of craft cider in 2015 using fruit from their own orchard, and started planting and grafting trees over to grow more cider specific apple varieties on the family farm - including this lovely Spitzenberg.
We're beginning to see more cideries release single-varietal Esopus Spitzenberg ciders, and we love them all. Made with 100% Spitzenburg cider apples, this offering from Rootwood is dry, tropical and bright.
About Spitzenberg apples: A legendary heirloom apple with deep American roots, Esopus Spitzenberg earned its place in history as a treasured variety at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello estate. First discovered in the early 1700s near the village of Esopus, New York. Great for cider making given it's aromatic and sharp, acid driving qualities.
