Staff Picks: Erik's Favorite Ciders For Fall (6-Pack)

Hello! This bundle features a mix of some of my favorite ciders that we've recently brought into our shop. Freshly updated in October.

Late summer and early fall are prime months for cider tastings We've been pouring at a few Festivals here in the Seattle area, and a couple of these ciders were the crowd favorites from those festivals. Plus a few fall-friendly ciders, a couple rare gems, and a very limited release from one of my favorite cider makers.

Pssst: The 12-bottle bundle includes both my picks and Storie's current staff picks and comes at an even bigger discount (basically a free cider if you buy both bundles).

1. Oliver's Cider - Sour Gummies (750 mL): An excellent off-dry cider from the U.K. Tom Oliver is widely considered one of the G.O.A.T.s in the cider community. Sour Gummies is one of the handful of his ciders we were able to get imported for us this year. It's a fun one! We poured this one at a cider festival in Seattle that was mostly catered towards the modern cider crowd, though of course dry/traditional cider enthusiasts were there too. Everybody was drawn to the name. Most were disappointed - the modern cider fans thought there were sour gummy candies in the cider, while the traditional cider lovers were turned off by the idea even though they knew better. Nearly everyone loved the cider! Off-dry with a fresh red apple bite to it, then it pivots to a fun, confectionary vibe.

2. Empyrical Cider - Inquiry (500 mL): Another contender for the Greatest cider makers, our friends at Empyrical are a small batch producer here in Seattle that continues to win awards annually for being amongst the best cider makers in the U.S. Inquiry is their annual Quince Cider release, and this vintage took home some prestigious hardware at this year's Northwest Cider Cup - winning Gold in the competitive Post-Fermentation Fruit Addition (Dry) category. It's perfect.

3. La Maison Ferre - Cave de Gabriel Brut Cider (750 mL): We go to great lengths to track down as many of the French ciders that get imported into the U.S. (sadly, it's getting harder and harder!). I'm in charge of picking the quarterly variety pack of ciders that go into our French Cider Club, and I'm always digging for the next delicious find. This stunner caught me by surprise! Everything you hope for in a classic Normandy cider. Fine carbonation, floral and woody notes, and a striking balance of tannins and slight sweetness.

4. Presque Isle Farm - OLO (750 mL): Bringing in PIF cider from Michigan is one of our 2025 highlights. I love a nicely balanced and integrated barrel aged cider, especially this time of year. OLO was fermented in Oloroso Sherry barrels and Neutral French Oak Casks. Great aromatics on this cider - notes of white grape and soft wood, with a burst of recognizable tropical notes from the Golden Russet upon swirling your glass. Dry (drinks slightly off-dry) and full bodied with a subtle warming on the finish - this beauty drinks naturally imperial.

5. Greenwood Cider's Natural (500 mL): A cider so good, the crew at Greenwood kept a quarter of the total cases they made to drink for themselves. Natural is the first ever release from Greenwood fermented naturally - meaning wild fermented with native yeast living on the fruit and in their cidery.  select blend of heirloom and cider apples fermented wild, leaving a pleasant residual sweetness. The terroir of the western Cascade foothills lends a rich, smooth, and earthy apple aroma.

6. Keepsake Cider's River Reserve Medium (750 mL):  A blend for the cider makers and cider lovers out there. Made from a blend that's roughly 2/3 bittersweet and bittersharp apples, and 1/3 of Chestnut Crab and Keepsake - two Minnesota founded varieties, including one for which Keepsake Cidery is named after. A modest sweetness on this cider is cut through with some refreshing acidity and tannins. Yummy stuff from the Midwest.

We ship cider in boxes that safely hold 4-bottles, 6-bottles, or 12-bottles. Order in one of those quantities (or multiples of those quantities) to maximize your shipping value. For example, if you order 2-3 ciders, there will be room left in the box and it won't meaningfully change the shipping costs to fill the box.

We do have 1-bottle boxes, but in most all instances it will cost the same to ship you a full 4-bottle box.

Shipping to a business address will usually save you a few bucks!

Shipping cost estimates:

  • Pacific Northwest/West Coast: Shipping anywhere in the Pacific Northwest or West Coast is relatively inexpensive. Almost all box sizes cost $16-21 to ship. Same is true for most destinations in the Mountain Time Zone.
  • Central Standard Time Zone / Midwest: A 4-bottle or 6-bottle box will usually cost $18-24 to ship. A 12-bottle box will usually cost $22-30 to ship. Variance depends on weight and how far from a FedEx/UPS shipping center your delivery address is.
  • East Coast: A 4-bottle or 6-bottle box will usually cost $20-25 to ship. A 12-bottle box will usually cost $25-35 to ship. Variance depends on weight and how far from a FedEx/UPS shipping center your delivery address is.

Important Shipping Information:

  • We are able to ship cider to most, but not all, states.
  • Legally, someone 21+ must be present at the time of delivery to sign for the cider. We cannot ship to PO Boxes or AFO/FPO addresses.
  • Shipping prices vary by weight and destination. How far you are from Seattle (where we ship from), and remote vs. central your shipping destination is, and how heavy your box is will make shipping vary.
  • The bigger the box, the less you pay in shipping on a per-bottle basis. We ship in 1, 4, 6, and 12 bottle boxes - order in those quantities for the best shipping value. The size of the box matters as much as the weight, so don't leave empty slots in your bottle box! Shipping a 1-2 bottles will cost the same as shipping 4-6 bottles in most cases. Shipping a 12-bottle box is usually only $3-5 more than shipping a 4-6 bottle box.
  • Re-delivery and returns are the responsibility of the customer.
  • We don't recommend shipping during periods of extreme weather. If your area has weather of concern, please contact us and we can hold your order.

We can usually accommodate rush requests for delivery or pickup. Please e-mail us at cider@pressthenpress.com or call/text us at (206)395-4008.

We offer home delivery of cider orders for customers in the Seattle area, including the east-side. Someone 21+ must be available to accept the delivery. We will be flexible in scheduling a delivery that works for you. Most deliveries are made within a few days of the order being placed.

Orders can be picked up for free at Makeda & Mingus, a coffee shop and community space in the Greenwood neighborhood. They are open everyday from 7AM-5PM. Orders are made available for pickup within 1-3 days.

If you love cider and anticipate ordering 3+ boxes per year, consider joining one of our Cider Clubs. Club members get great benefits including discounts on any orders they make with us, year round.
