Liberty Ciderworks - Wakota (500 mL)
Liberty Ciderworks - Wakota (500 mL)
Liberty Ciderworks' Wakota is a rosé cider made from a new & unique red-fleshed cider apple. Liberty's first foray into red-flesh, and it's an absolutely stunning cider. Made with "Wakota" apples - an new red-fleshed apple bred specifically for cider (and for Liberty) by master grower Bill Howell in Prosser, Washington.
Think Sangria – but from one remarkable apple! Lovely apple, cherry and wild rose aromatics lead creamy pinapple, banana and strawberry/cranberry flavor notes. The deep red color on this cider as well it's berry fruit notes come from the Wakota apple. Semi-dry, and slightly less tart and more tannic than many red-fleshed ciders - though still some nice juiciness to it that plays up the fruitiness nicely.
About Liberty Ciderworks: Liberty is one of the absolute best cider makers in the Pacific Northwest - and America for that matter. Based in Spokane, Washington, they gather nearly all of their fruit from three tiny, family-run orchards in Eastern Washington that grow apple varieties with cider in mind. Soil and climate play major roles, as do the native yeasts they allow to ferment their ciders. Employing “natural wine” methods in all of their ferments, Liberty never filters their ciders and allows each orchard’s native yeast to work its magic. Their approach is inspired by global styles and traditions, but reflects their own apples, landscape, and culture. It’s a philosophy expressed in everything they produce, and it’s one we think you’ll really enjoy. Most of their ciders will be particularly appealing to fans of English style ciders.
