Empyrical Cider - Archive Perry (500 mL)
Empyrical Cider - Archive Perry (500 mL)
Empyrical's Archive Perry is a sparkling pear wine made in the traditional perry methods, using perry pears grown on their Snohomish orchard. Barrel aged, then further aged in bottle, this delightful perry is the result of a skillful hand over several seasons. Slightly sweet with delicate astringency.
Available now in the most recent release of the Empyrical Perry Club.
The very last bottles of an award-winning barrel-aged perry. This blend of English perry pears was aged for 18 months in barrel, then finished Methode Traditionelle with a dosage of fresh pear juice. Notable VA is complemented by fruit esters. Edging toward oaked sherry as it ages. Finished semi-dry, the abundant pear and barrel tannins are balanced by sweetness. 2024 GLINTCAP Best in Class. 2024 NWCC medalist.
About Empyrical Cider: We simply cannot say enough good things about Empyrical Cider. Since their launch in 2022, every cider & perry they've released has been one of our favorite bottles in the shop. (Side note: we've also had the pleasure of trying countless bottles of experimental batches and bottles from their archives, all of which have been highly impressive). In a few short years they've won countless awards for their ciders - most notably being crowned the Best New Cidery at the Northwest Cider Cup (2023), and Cider Maker of the Year at GLINTCAP for three consecutive years and counting (micro-scale category, 2023-2025).
Empyrical Cider was started by Adam Wargacki and Elizabeth Lockhart - partners in business and in life. They planted their own pome fruit orchard on their family's property in Snohomish, Washington. Notably, more than 400 of their 1500+ fruit trees are traditional perry pear varieties. They craft their cider and perry blends with an immense amount of thought and careful attention to detail - and the results are always stunning. Each of their releases is a very limited, small batch offering, and not to be missed. Easily the best perry maker in the United States, and their ciders are every bit as good.
